Preservation Services and Projects Manager

£37,325 to 44,234 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance of £2,323 per
annum)
The AHDS Executive is seeking to appoint a Preservation Services and
Projects Manager to lead the development of AHDS preservation activities and
projects. This will include leading AHDS involvement in digital preservation
research and development by managing and contributing to current projects,
by developing new projects, and producing a business plan for the
implementation of preservation and curation services.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a relevant degree and practical
experience and knowledge of preservation and data curation issues. A good
knowledge and understanding of standards and protocols for managing digital
collections is essential as is knowledge of preservation standards and
protocols, including the OAIS reference model. Knowledge of metadata
standards such as Dublin Core and METS is desirable. S/he must possess the
necessary skills to recognise, learn about, and act upon new and emerging
initiatives and findings in this complex field and be able to translate
these into workable processes within the AHDS, and to enable services to be
fully developed for a wider community. An excellent communicator, s/he must
be capable of writing project proposals and leading projects once funded.
Previous experience of writing for publication in a relevant area would be
welcome.
Salary will be within the ALC Grade 4 salary scale, currently £37,325 to
£44,234 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance of £2,323 per annum)
depending on skills and experience. This post will be fixed term to 30
November 2008 initially because it is a fixed-term funded project.
