I'm glad that it works now. Although I'm a bit confused why you had to
manually trigger the installation of gnuplot -- the packages pulls this
automatically.

Sometimes it is a good idea to run:

apt-get install -f

or

aptitude install

when the package management was temporarily broken. This should put it
back into a sane state or at least report potential problems.
