Hi Trish,
Thanks for your feedback. Will pass this on to the powers that be and see if they want to go with this approach.
best,

Hiy Arthur,
I have just implemented Mikes building block and have been testing it and Im very happy with the functionality.
The current building block works with csoft and their bulk text prices are listed below:
http://www.csoft.co.uk/prices <http://www.csoft.co.uk/prices>
In addition, you need to pay £100- (+ VAT) to get a "Corporate account". Doesnt work with a "personal" account cos each Blackboard course gets its own "child" account and this is only possible on corporate acounts.
If you want to change the address that the texts appear to come from (default is csoft) then you pay another £100pa.
I think thats it!
Cheers, Trish

Hi,
Just to let you know, the documentation at that link is slightly out of
date. I have posted a new version of our Messaging Service building
block to our download page, which creates SMS accounts on a per-course
basis in Blackboard. The old version worked on an account per-user basis.
In the new version, it is also possible to create and administer SMS
accounts completely from within the Blackboard interface. In the
previous version new accounts had to be set up manually on the SMS
provider's website. This is now done remotely from Blackboard.
There is some brief documentation in the zip file available for download
here:
http://www.arts.ac.uk/itrdu/bb_user_guides/bb_downloads.php
I will try to update the web-based user guide when I have some time.
Best wishes,
Mike
