Hi Everyone
I've been reading the postings with interest, as we have recently been having discussions about exploring the potential of online events, webinars etc (locations and alternatives was raised on the CETIS-ACCESSIBILITY list as a potential - see:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/CETIS-ACCESSIBILITY.html)
Many of the themes (and indeed speakers) at this particular event echo the JISC Design for Learning programme, and the organisers are involved in the Programme also - for more details see:
http://www.jisc.org.uk/whatwedo/programmes/elearning_pedagogy/elp_designlearn.aspx
JISC CETIS are coordinating the support project for this Programme, and as part of this are running a number of events for the Programme but also disseminating the work to the wider community; such as the recent event in April, which provided the opportunity for some projects to obtain feedback from the wider community - see:
http://wiki.cetis.ac.uk/April_2007_Meeting
The programme runs until May 2008 so more events will come later this year/ early next year, when dates are confirmed I will post details to this list - and because we try to spread out the locations, some of the venues are likely to be 'up north' too :-)
If anyone would like further details, please get in touch.
Best wishes
Lisa

I feel sure that there are equally good events going on up north as down
here in the metropolis - however, we have speakers and delegates coming
from all over the UK and abroad so it is not just a regional affair -
however, as you say it can be costly.

I second this, Living in Darlington and working in North Yorkshire.
With a train ticket coming up at over £100, the "Digital Distance Divide"
is visible for all to see here!
Do we have anything like this going on in the Northern area?
Should we be looking at web-casts and online seminars?

Hi,
I'd very much like to attend your conference(s) but why do you hold them in
the middle of London?
I don't mind having to drive for 5 hours (from Gateshead) to get there, but
overnight accommodation is too expensive and I strongly object to having to
pay Ken Livingstone's car-tax. Locations anywhere north of Watford might
help?
Kindest Regards,

Colleagues, given your interest in e-learning and its impact you may have
missed earlier announcements about this year's e-learning@greenwich
conference on the theme of 'Designing for Learning' on Wednesday, 4th July
at the Maritime Greenwich Campus of the University of Greenwich.
With keynotes from Gilly Salmon and Linda Creanor and more than 20
presentations including evaluations of the impact of e-learning on practice
in HE and FE, it promises to be an excellent day.
There are a few places left but registration will be closing shortly. For
further information and to reserve your place visit
