Ancestry.co.uk (part of The Generations Network) is one of the fastest growing paid subscription 
services on the Internet and its site Ancestry.co.uk is the UK’s leading online resource for Family 
History.  It provides the largest collection of online family history records and enables individuals 
to explore their own personal histories and connect with others doing the same. 

We are now looking for several outstanding full and part time employees to help grow the 
business in the UK and Internationally.  

CONTENT MANAGER
This person will be responsible for defining the customer experience within our family history 
databases and communicating internally and externally the significance of each collection. In this 
role, you will work with Partnership Development, Records Preservation, Product Management, 
Public Relations, QA and Operations teams to ensure smooth and seamless production.  You will 
research potential collections, assist with case studies, and will assist in the Records Preservations 
manager as needed. You will also be responsible for documenting key decisions and project 
progress.

The ideal candidate will have
 - Excellent communication and organizational skills.
 - Demonstrated experience working with historical records.
 - Experience with recognised cataloguing systems.
 - Advanced degree in History, Library Studies, Information Systems or other related discipline.
 - 3+ years of experience in a relevant field of work.
 - Conservation/archive experience a plus.
 - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with very little direction.
 - Nationally recognised certification is helpful.

Salary - £25,000 - £30,000 per year dependant on experience plus bonus and benefits
 - Start date	Immediate

GENEALOGY RESEARCHER
We are looking for an outstanding genealogy researcher to help deliver and promote new and 
existing historical collections in the UK and Internationally. The successful applicant will report to 
and work closely with the Public Relations Director.

This is a new part-time position estimated at three days per week. 

Role description

 - Undertake research into Ancestry collections to support new launches and planned PR 
campaigns 
 - Conduct research that can be used online to promote the Ancestry business, for example case 
studies or other resources to support Ancestry collections
 - Identify unique information in Ancestry collections that can be used for PR purposes
 - Capitalise through research on current market trends or historical milestones (to support the PR 
strategy)

The ideal candidate will be

 - An experienced genealogist or family history researcher with a sound knowledge of the UK 
family and military history sectors
 - A self starter able to manage multiple skills and priorities
 - Attention to historical detail and accuracy
 - Excellent on and offline research skills essential
 - Excellent communications skills, both written and oral

Salary: £20,000 - £24,000 per year dependent on experience
Start date: Immediate
Job-type: Part-time
Location: Although Ancestry’s offices are based in London it is anticipated that the successful 
applicant will share time between the office and various archives.

SCANNER/CAMERA OPERATOR
We are looking for several scanner and camera operators to help digitise and deliver new and 
exiting historical collections to the Ancestry website. The successful applicant will report to and 
work closely with the Records Preservation Manager based in Hammersmith.

These are new full-time positions estimated to last between 6 and 9 months with potential for 
extention. These positions are ideal for students seeking practical experience handling fragile 
historical documents. Flexible hours between 9 am and 7 pm, 5 days a week may be available.

Role description
 - Digitise fragile original documents using digital cameras and high speed scanners.
 - Perform quality assurance on scanned images, verifying the highest level of accuracy and 
integrity.
- Be committed to the highest standard of fragile document handling. 

The ideal candidate will be
 - A self starter able to manage multiple skills and priorities
 - Able to follow detailed instructions accurately and consistantly
 - Able to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time
 - Have demonstrated experience handling historical documents. Conservation experience is 
highly desired.

Salary: £8.00 per hour - dependent on experience
Start date: Immediate
Job-type: 6-9 months contract with possibility of extension
Location: One set of employees is needed in the Salisbury area. A second set is needed in the 
Kew/Richmond area.
