INTRODUCTORY MEDICAL STATISTICS COURSE

This two-day introductory course has been running successfully for four years for clinical and scientific research staff at the National Heart & Lung Institute/Royal Brompton Hospital. In response to high demand, we are now offering an additional course for external applicants.
The course has been designed to introduce health care professionals to a number of statistical concepts including:
- Epidemiological study design
- Identifying, describing and summarising different data types
- Selection of appropriate statistical tests (two and three group scenarios)
- Calculation of sample size for basic study designs
- Understanding the principles behind various forms of regression analysis, including survival analysis
- Critically appraise statistical methodology and reported results in peer-reviewed publications
No prior knowledge of statistics is assumed.
Course fee: The registration fee is £200. The fee includes tea, coffee, lunch and course booklet. Places are confirmed upon receipt of the registration fee, which must be received before the event. Places are limited, so please apply early.
