Permanent
Band 7
Closing date: 18th June 2007
Location: Bedford, England, MK40 2AW
Bedfordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is the main commissioner of health services for the population of Bedfordshire. Bedfordshire has a diverse population from rural villages to deprived urban areas and areas with large ethnic minority populations. This makes it a very interesting place in which to work in Public Health Intelligence (PHI). With a growing population of over 400,000, and a budget of some £400million and it is important that this money is spent wisely.
As part of the PCTs drive towards efficient and effective spending this post has been created to carry out sophisticated analysis projects to give direction to strategic public health commissioning and to identify areas for innovative service redesign. The projects will use data from a wide range of sources and will look at the complete picture of care, including that provided by the County Council Social Services. This is aided by the fact that the Director of Public Health is a joint appointment with the County Council.
As part of the small PHI team in Public Health Directorate you will work closely with the Information Analysis Team in the PCT's Business Unit, the County Council information team and information teams in other partner organisations. You will develop good working relationships with these teams. You will have a proactive approach as you develop new sources of information and faster routes for information flows. You will also develop the PHI information base and ensure it contains information required by public health professionals on a day to day basis.
