Perhaps something went wrong when you untarred the tarrball you
downloaded? WinZip sometimes messes up archives made on linux..
Another reason why the figure won't open might be because you appear to
use a very old Matlab version. When the figure (containing the menu's)
is created by matlab 7, matlab 6 won't open them unless the developers
enabled backward compatibility (something with using save -v6 when
saving figures when I remember well).
Just my 2 cts, I hope the developers can tell you more. Our SPM tools on
the web sometimes created similar issues...
