On the list last year there was a brief discussion about Occupational
Health records.
When discussin the retention of "ordinary" OH records a member stated:
"Perhaps retention should mirror retention of the personnel record
unless
the above regs. [medical surveillance and monitoring (COSHH Regulations
2002 and Ionizing Radiation Regulations 1999)] can be invoked."
Could other list members clarify how long they keep "normal" occ health
files for. In other words certain files need to be kept for long periods
e.g. asbestos, COSHH etc., but these are apparently quite rare. So how
long do you keep the "other" files for? Do you keep them for as long as
other staff records, e.g. 6 years after leaving?
Thanks for your help.
Catherine
