To report back on the responses to my question (below).
3 local authorities, including the one which raised the query, admit to
either using, planning or intending at some point to use the LGCS for their
intranet structure.
As for the pros and cons, the pros are much the same as using the LGCS for
EDRM and shared drives:
- sustainable structure,
- reduced duplication,
- joined-up working (with EDRM, shared drives, other services and external
organisations) and
- 'Enables a clear line of sight between community based objectives and
outcomes - which are not typically single service area issues'
The cons are also much the same: service areas fearing loss of ownership and
the change management required to address that.
Thanks for the responses.
Alison

Subject: Use of LGCS for intranet structure
Dear local authorities (and apologies to those who are not)
Are any of you using the LGCS to structure your intranet? One of our clients
plans to do so and wishes to know the pros and cons.
Thanks
Alison
