Pam if you are 'Saving as' daily and creating duplicates of your project on a daily basis its likely you are using NVivo2? With NVivo2 you cannot merge unless you have an extra piece of software called Merge for NVivo. Thats costs money.
.
If you do have Nvivo7 then the merge facility is incorporated. Look in File menu to 'import' your project. There will be some implications however, one of which being that if you have edited the documents you have coded in the later work sessions, the relevant documents themselves will not merge. If you have only coded a bit more, and not edited, then the merge will work. HOWEVER. In NVivo7, be sure to make a copy of your project before importing another project into it. That way you can go back to your project of choice if you do not like the results
best!

Subject: Merging/ Extracting coding in nvivo
Hi All,
I was advised at a Nvivo workshop to save my Nvivo projects daily, so that I have now have projects for most days that I made changes to my project. Last week, I mistakenly opened an earlier project and started coding in it. Is there a way for me to extract the new coding that I did and add/merge it into the appropriate project? Thanks.
Pamela
