Dear Colleagues,
We are looking at the roll out of a book prescription scheme here in
UCD Dublin in association with our Student Health Services. The scheme
involves the use of effective self help books for the treatment of
mild to moderate psychological or personal difficulties. Bibliotherapy
is a term often used to describe this approach.
I would be very interested in the experiences of any other academic
library which has launched a similiar service. In particular we are
teasing out how best to set up this service to be accessable but not
offputting.
For example did you integrate the books into your general collection
or develop as stand alone collection? How do you display and brand.
Did you create new loan categories and lending periods, your approach
to fines?
Id expecially like to hear your observations on how the students
engage with and use such a service
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Peter
