ANGERMION

Yearbook for Anglo-German Cultural Relations
Edited by Rüdiger Görner (London)
Co-edited by Angus Nicholls (London) and Michael Kooy (Warwick)

Inaugural issue to appear in 2008, published by Walter de Gruyter (Berlin
and New York) under the auspices of the Centre for Anglo-German Cultural
Relations, Queen Mary, University of London

Total length: approx. 240 Pages

Website:
http://www.degruyter.de/rs/ed_e.cfm?rc=21899&id=SER-M1-WDG-ANG-B-21899

ANGERMION is a new refereed yearbook for the analysis of historical and
contemporary Anglo-German cultural transfers, mediations and reception
processes. Literary criticism, literary theory, cultural studies, media
studies and the history of ideas will be key fields of interest for the
yearbook. In each year the editor and the editorial board will determine a
particular theme of interest, to which approximately half of the essays
appearing in each volume will be devoted. Examples of such themes are:
comparative studies of literary and cultural criticism, research on inter-
cultural prejudices, music culture, visual media, popular culture, myth
research, and the study of urbanism and provincialism as literary
phenomena. Alongside the specific theme for each issue, free space will be
provided for open essays on topics relating to Anglo-German cultural
transfers, for important translations, for reviews of relevant scholarly
and literary texts, and for conference and research reports. The theme for
each issue will be determined nine months in advance of the submission
deadline for each issue, and publicised on the website of the Centre for
Anglo-German Cultural Relations as well as in other relevant media.

The languages of the yearbook are English and German.

The theme for the first issue is:

Fragile Identities. The Other as a Mirror Image of the Self
Brüchige Identitäten. Der Andere als Spiegelbild des Eigenen

The editors request essay submissions (no longer than circa 25 printed
pages or 9000 words in length) by no later than 1 February 2008. Decisions
as to the publication of contributions shall then be made by the editor,
the co-editors and the advisory board. Authors writing submissions in
English are advised to prepare their manuscripts according to MLA style
guidelines; submissions in German should use DVjs style guidelines. All
submissions (as word documents) to: Dr. Angus Nicholls,
[log in to unmask]

Authors will receive one set of page proofs prior to publication, and 20
off-prints of their article following publication. Copies of the yearbook
will be made available to contributors at a discount of 20%.
