After more than five years of academic and scientific exchange between
researchers and other partners interested in Arctic and Antarctic
social
and cultural issues, new research association and peer-reviewed
journal
have been launched.
International Association of Circumpolar Sociocultural Issues (IACSI)
is an scientific association devoted to the study of different
socio-cultural aspects related to the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
The
Association is integrated mainly by scholars from Social Sciences,
Anthropology and Humanities. Association privileges scientific
research
on with reference to:
* Local Communities in Extreme Environments
* Social Problems and Human Well-being
* Participation and Community Attachment
* Habitat and Identity
* Minorities and Native people
* Migration
* Environment and Sustainable Development
We highly welcome all new members who are interested in the study of
circumpolar regions from the perspective of above mentioned themes.
The
members can be individuals or institutions. Individual membership:

(thirty Euros), including one copy of the annual issue of journal
Arctic
and Antarctic (see below). Institutional membership: 100 (one
hundred
Euros), including two (2) copies of the annual issue of A&A. In order

According to the aims and goals of the International Association of
Circumpolar Socio-Cultural Issues (IACSI), a new annually published
journal is launched. The Arctic & Antarctic - International Journal of
Circumpolar Socio-Cultural Issues (A&A-IJCSCI), is an international,
peer-reviewed, scholarly journal published annually. The A&A-IJCSCI
has
been created to provide a forum for the socio-cultural analysis of
both
circumpolar regions.
Articles in the Journal will be devoted to promote an international
and
interdisciplinary dialogue concerning the following subjects:
1) Local Communities and Extreme Environments
2) Habitat, Social Interaction and Identity
3) Social Problems and Policies
4) Minorities and Aboriginal Cultures
5) Migration and Socio-cultural Integration
6) Prehistory and History
7) Literature and Arts
8) Geopolitics and International Relations
9) Arctic and Antarctic Comparative Studies
10) Other issues related to socio-cultural themes concerning
circumpolar areas.
First issue of A&A - IJCSCI in September of 2007 consists of the

Journal is free for individual and institutional members of the
