I went on to the BBCi digitext in the Community section (pg. 1050), then
into Disabilty section and read a news-story which is not advertised
anywhere else on the net, or any other place. The story goes as follows:-
Marching for Independent Living:-
Disabled People are being urged to march on Downing Street on Monday 18th
June 07 to demand Government support for a legal right to Independent
living.
Lord Ashley's Disabled Person's (Independent Living) Bill would place a duty
for local authorities and the NHS to support Independent living. The Bill
also aims to cut red tape and give disabled people and older people more
choice and control over their care. The Bill was introduced to the Commons
by Roger Berry MP.
Join Rally For Independent Living:-
The Independent living Bill has been passed by the House Of Lords but does
not yet have Government support. Sue Bott, Director of the National Centre
For Independent Living said: "Just staying at home is not going to get tyhe
message across."
"There are times when you really need to take to the streets."
"I would urge anybody who care about the current crisis and about
Independent living to come to the rally and show their support for the
Bill."
That's a verbatim report which is now on BBCi
I would welcome your comments and responses.
Yours
Colin Revell
