Those of you specialising in migration may be interested in this, which has
occurred as one version of many offspring of the European Social Forum; I
(among some others on this list) participated in the first three iterations
of the ESF as a member of ATTAC UK, in Florence, Paris and London.

Une Å“uvre collective Ã
l’échelle
planétaire

Le
projet

pendant un an.

Una
obra
colectiva a nivel mundial

colectiva.

A collective effort for a planetary result

The World
Charter
for Migrants project gives migrants all around the planet an opportunit y to
contribute to, and participate in, the drafting of a collective charter of
principles governing the freedom of movement and of settlement to women and
men
throughout the world.

From the
outset,
the charter and its contents have been drawn up by migrants
themselves.

The text you
will
find below is the first draft drawn up by a collective of migrants and
support

groups located in Marseilles.

Corrections and

amendments to any part of the text are welcome.

In creating
this
site (still under construction), we want to give you the opportunity to
contribute to the drafting of this Charter over the next twelve
months.

The text of the Charter was

first presented at the World Social Forum of Migrants in June 2006 in Rivas,
Madrid.

Your
contribution
will be included in a synopsis of suggestions and a new draft text will be
debated during the next World Social Forum of Migrants in June
2008.

We encourage
public meetings all over the world to discuss the Charter, and we look
forward

to hearing from you with details of such meetings.

We appeal to
all
those willing to help with the development of this project to contact us.

So please take
the time to read the draft Charter, think about it and give us your
suggestions
so that the World Charter for Migrants will truly become a planetary and
collective success.

The WCM

Collective
