Dear Mr. Rowlett,
search on the log of your xorg for an error related to this problem. Some
videocards do not support some extensions together others. Sometimes DRI
doesn't works with composite, maybe some missing extensions is causing your
problem. If you want, try to send this file to us, and we I'll try to find
the problem.
