Keynote Speaker: Dr Laurence Coupe
author of Myth (Routledge New Critical Idiom)
A conference dedicated to mythological figures and themes in all areas of
the humanities, from foundational myths of faith and nation to retellings of
traditional stories. Papers and performances will explore the significance
of these images and motifs in contemporary culture.
There will be exciting and groundbreaking papers on: vampires, werewolves,
serpent women, the myth of the American West, post-9/11 conspiracy theories
as meta-myths, bodily transformation in Hollywood films and the myth of the
hobo in Bob Dylan.
There will be poetry readings and performances from: Tilla Brading, Cliff
Forshaw, Alan Halsey, Gavin Selerie and Frances Presley.
