Hello Alyson
We did an interactive exhibition on inclusive design at the manchester
science museum last year - aimed at kids, grandparents etc. One of the
challenges which may appeal to your audience (I'm really guessing here)
and which you may be able to 'quizz-ise' was a discussion around braille
and moon, why braille has caught on and moon hasn't, what helps us to
see items clearly as our sight is less good as we get older, etc. We
then collected everyday household products including those that had
braille on them (co-op is the best source for braille products). We put
the products in a box which the contestant could not see in to and they
had to pull out what they had chosen from a list as their predetemined
dinner menu for example, by feeling, touching the packaging. Great fun
for the audience at what is pulled out of the box. You can then follow
this with a brief discussion about braille on being put on pet foods,
some cakes, medicines, disinfectants etc
I've a couple of photos I could email through to you or happy to chat on
the phone if this helps.

Subject: [ACCESSIBUILT] Speech!
Bit of a weird one, this...
I have been asked by my mother to be ready at short notice to give a
speech to her Women's Institute about access auditing, accessible design
etc.
I would like the talk to be quite funny to hold their interest (although
obviously, it's an interesting enough subject on it's own!), preferably
with examples of bad design, good design, stupid design and so one. I
would also like to have some kind of quiz at the end.
Has anyone out there had to give a similar talk, and would anyone be
able to point me in the direction of some on-line photos of good / bad
design?
Also, any quiz questions gratefully received!
In exchange, I will pass on any Victoria sponge recipes I pick up on the
night!
Thanks
