Dear all,
I have been asked to distribute the following job ad. Apologies for
multiple postings.
The University of Muenster (Germany) invites applications for a position
as Junior Professor in Analytical Petrology (3+3 years). The Institute
for Mineralogy is very well equipped for experimental and analytical
research in petrology and geochemistry. Experimental equipment includes
piston cylinder apparatus, cold seal apparatus, high temperature gas
mixing furnaces, with scope for extension (e.g., multi-anvil apparatus).
The Institute is well supported by preparation laboratories and
excellent in-house work shops. Analytical facilities include Excimer
laser ablation ICP-MS, several TIMS, modern electron microprobe, several
TEM’s, and scanning electron microscopes. The Institute has close
collaboration with the Institutes of Geology, Planetology and Physics
through the Interdisciplinary Centre for Electron Microscopy and
Microanalysis (ICEM), with access to a further range of equipment.
Further information about the facilities and research in the Institute
can be found on the homepage :

Candidates should have a doctorate and broad interest in Geosciences
with a focus on applying modern analytical methods to study igneous or
metamorphic processes. This specifically includes experimentalists with
a strong interest in analytical geochemistry and petrology.
The University seeks to increase the proportion of female members in the
faculty and therefore urges interested female candidates to apply.
Applications in English with a C.V., including teaching experience and
publication list, copies of degree certificates, a statement of research
interests and future plans, should be made by 24 May, 2007 to the Dean
of the Faculty of Geosciences:
Dekanat des Fachbereichs 14 - Geowissenschaften
Westfaelische Wilhelms-Universitaet Muenster
Robert-Koch-Str. 26-28
