The Glamorgan Record Office is the key body in the preservation of the written history of a large
and populous region of South Wales. It provides a joint service to the City and County of Cardiff,
the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly (for the former Rhymney Valley District Council
area), Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan from a base in Cardiff’s civic
centre and is currently engaged in a major relocation programme within the city.
The Glamorgan Record Office requires a qualified archivist with a sound knowledge of CALM to
complete its professional team. You will have responsibility for achieving specific targets laid out
in the Office’s annual plan in the area of collections management. Following the completion of
the accessions database, the Office aims to develop other modules of CALM and to produce an online
catalogue. You will also be an active member of the professional team undertaking a wide range of
activities working in a culture of change in a busy local authority record office. A full driving
licence is desirable.
