*Apologies for cross posting*
The Society of Archivists: Film, Sound and Photography Group are pleased
to invite you to their AGM and lecture event on the 20th July 2007. This
event will take place at the National Library of Wales at Aberystwyth, in
the Drwm Auditorium
We have three guest speakers who will give short lectures on audio-visual
related issues, including oral history archiving, photographic databases,
and the work of the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales; there will
aslo be a screening of a short film, 'Valley of Song'. It looks to be a
very interesting and rewarding day. The event is charged at £30 for
Society members and £35 for non-members.
A draft programme for the event is detailed below (possibly subject to
changes). Details of the venue can be found at: www.llgc.org.uk If you
wish to attend you will need to confirm by completing the Society of
Archivists booking form, which can be downloaded from their website:
http://www.archives.org.uk/careerdevelopment.html
The Film and Sound Group was established in 1994 to exchange views and
information on film and sound archives and to encourage good practice
among those concerned with their acquisition, preservation and
arrangement. In 2005, the group voted to extend its remit to include
photographs as a response to requests for specialist advice regarding
photographic media.
Non-FSPG members are welcome to attend, but will not be able to vote in
the AGM. The FSPG currently has a membership of 300+ and this number is
constantly growing; if you are interested in becoming a member of the
FSPG, please contact:
