Help us to ensure that patients' views are taken seriously throughout the NHS and beyond
The Picker Institute is an Oxford-based research and development charity working with patients, professionals and policy-makers to promote understanding of the patient's perspective at all levels of health care policy and practice. The results of our research are used to improve the quality of health care.
We run patient and staff surveys for NHS trusts and other health care organisations, both public and private, using carefully developed validated questionnaires. We also co-ordinate the national patient survey programme in acute NHS hospitals, and amongst GP patients, on behalf of the Healthcare Commission. This involves collecting feedback from patients on their experiences of care in such areas as inpatient stays, maternity services, emergency and outpatients departments, ambulance services and in general practice.
We are looking for two people to work on our expanding programme of research. We are prepared to consider applications from researchers early in their careers as well as those with more experience who would be able to take responsibility for leading the development of existing or new surveys.
