The length of their association with the College (staff or student).
Their email archive would eventually be wiped, although we give students
a good chance to save or export files before doing this. As I
understand it, a student returning to the College would be allocated the
same email address as before.

Interesting. How long does the learner have the email addr Hi

Interesting. How long does the learner have the email address, just the
length of their course or indefinitely?

Hi there: We avoid this kind of problem, because we set up VLE users
with their College email account and prevent them from changing this
setting, so, apart perhaps from a very few guest users or similar, there
aren't any hotmail accounts or the like to be delivered to. No doubt
some users would prefer to have their external email as the setting, but
probably fewer than the number of defunct or misspelled accounts that we
would get if we opened it up. I don't hear many complaints, and this
way we try to promote use of the College email system (which users can
access externally anyway), and we can see what is delivered, and we know
all users have a valid account....

Subject: [VLES] emailing from VLEs issues

Hi
anyone suffering from issues when trying to do mass mails from within a
VLE.
For example Forums that send postings via email to everyone registered
to that forum.
All the 'big' mails that we do to hotmail accounts seem to be bouncing
back and not getting to recipients at all. When we tried with a small
forum, two people two messages, they got through.
I know AOL has some sort of anti spam affair where you have to tell them
that your messages are legit does hotmail have a similar thing going on?
Is anybody else having issues with hotmail accounts or is this one all
our very own?
Thanks
Heather
