OBJECTIVE OF THE BOOK
This book shall be a unique compendium in the frontier between multi-agent
systems and traffic engineering.
The editors will provide introductory texts for both, traffic engineers as
well as for computer scientists already familiar with
agent technology.
To complement this introductory chapters, we hereby invite chapter proposals
about innovative ideas for applications of
different agent technologies on traffic and transportation related problems.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for this book is practitioners and researchers from
either agent technology or traffic engineering,
as well as students. Even experts may find new aspects in the innovative
chapters, given its broad coverage.
RECOMMENDED TOPICS
Prospective subject areas and specific topics for this publication include,
but are not limited to, the following:
Innovative Applications of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems in
Traffic and Transportation
Large Scale Traffic Simulation and Scalability Issues
Agent Theories for Traffic and Transportation Systems
Agent-based Simulation of Traffic and Transportation Systems and Networks
Self-Organization in Traffic
Agent-based Traffic Lights Control
Pedestrian and Crowds Simulation
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Step 1:
Prospective authors are invited to submit chapter proposals (limited to two
pages) on or before June 15, 2007.
We kindly ask prospective authors to contact us as soon as possible if they
intend to submit a proposal
In their proposal, prospective authors should clearly explain:
The purpose and the contents of their proposed chapter
How their proposed chapter relates to the overall objectives of the book
How their proposed chapter will be organized (roughly)
Step 2:
Authors will be notified of the status of their proposal by June 30, 2007.
If the proposal is accepted, chapter organization guidelines will be sent to
the authors.
Step 3:
Authors submit the draft version of their chapters.
Drafts of chapters will be due by November 15, 2007.
Step 4:
Chapters will be peer-reviewed (2-3 reviewers, double blind process)
regarding originality, significance
to the context of the book, and organization.
Step 5:
Notification of authors: around February 1st, 2008.
Step 6:
In case of acceptance, the camera-ready version and the sign of copyright
transfer is due March 1st, 2008.
