this is hilarious! i love it.
tho' seriously for a minute: who in the institution has time for
creating and maintaining these online accounts on behalf of their
museums/galleries/institutions? is it the marketing staff, the events
organising staff, the education/community programmes staff, the
membership/fundraising staff, the curators?
is using the web in this way just plain strategic? in other words,
can you get around the fact that your local authority manages updates
to your website and server space by hosting all of your interesting
relevant content somewhere else?
or are you a freelance curator (in my case with the Edith Russ Haus
exhibition - notice posted earlier) and so are using the web to
create a presence for your projects which the institution couldn't
otherwise?
any thoughts?
still hoping for more answers to my original questions about
documentation practices!
