Tim Buckley Owen will lead this one day course in techniques to summarise
documents of any length, practise writing to strict house style rules to
produce brief, readable and retrievable summaries every time ? whether
abstracting articles, news items, reports and books. Whether you are
running a current awareness service, presenting answers to enquiries,
carrying out extended desk research, preparing briefings or writing
reports, the ability to understand documents quickly and summarise them
accurately is an essential skill.
Information Law

Paul Pedley gives delegates an overview of some of the main areas of
information law. The day will cover libel & defamation, cybercrime &
computer misuse, data protection and freedom of information. It will be
relevant for anyone who manages information, and who needs to be aware of
the legal and ethical framework within which they operate and its
significance. Note: this course does not cover copyright issues.
