I haven't tried Second Life - as I mentioned it is "blocked" for us
under the category of "Computer Game", although I have, a few years ago,
tried out an on-line virtual world where one moves around and goes into
various buildings - Forgotten the name of it but it had things like
virtual univesities that could be looked around. However, someone where
I work, younger and with more recent knowledge of these things, suggests
that if you go on Second Life you just get "propositioned by pervs". If
this is the case, then it is appropriate that an educational
establishment should be recommending it to students - I accept that it
might be acceptable for a university - but FE Colleges often have
students as young as 13. It would seem to be an area where the FE
establishment might find themselves open to critiscism if indeed there
is a complaint regarding a 13 year old being "propositioned by a perv".
