CILIP South East Branch/Surrey Library & Information Group
Joint Annual General Meeting
?Creating our Professional Future?
A talk by Ian Snowley, President of CILIP
Date: Tuesday 5th June 2007
Time: 6.00 p.m. for 6.30 p.m.
Venue: Woking Library, Gloucester Walk, Woking, Surrey
(A light buffet with wine is available from 6.00p.m.)
Ian Snowley has been described as ?A Man With A Mission?, which is just as
well given the fundamental and radical changes that CILIP faces during his
Presidential year. His style has also been described as ?breathless?,
confronting issues with a genuine passion that is reflected in his
determination to change the way the outside world perceives us, and the
work we do. Ian is a firm believer in the need to encourage CILIP members
to get more involved and engage with the key issues. He is particularly
keen to involve a younger generation of professionals and the growing
number of affiliate members ? promoting the recognition of our skills and
qualifications at all levels. All those who have heard Ian or read his
articles will know what a great communicator he is, and we are very
pleased to welcome him to this joint AGM. Come along and find out more
about his mission and the key role that we can all play in shaping the
professional agenda.
This is a free, open meeting for all CILIP members and potential members
in the South East Region, (Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Hampshire & the Isle of
Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire). All those involved in
Library & Information work, including those in surrounding areas, are very
welcome to come along. Please pass this information on to colleagues who
may be interested. The South East Branch and SLAIG AGMs will take place
from 6.30 ? 7.15, with the Ian Snowley talk starting at 7.15.
The Library is 5 minutes walk from Woking Station and car parking is
available in the town centre car parks adjacent to the library.
