JOB VACANCY FOR PART-TIME INFORMATION OFFICER, Eurydice at NFER, Salary
£21,405-£24,091 (Pro rata for part-time)
The Eurydice Unit for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, part of the
Eurydice information network on education in Europe, is based at the
National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) in Slough. A part-time
Information Officer (17.5 hours weekly) is required to join the Unit.
Candidates should hold a relevant first degree, or postgraduate
qualification, and preferably have library and information management
skills. An interest in education is also highly desirable, along with
excellent communication skills, a sound knowledge of ICT and an interest in
online databases and web-based information systems. Knowledge of at least
one other European language would also be a distinct advantage.
The successful candidate will be an adaptable team player who pays
attention to detail and is able to respond well under pressure. He or she
will be required to:
• Classify, catalogue, abstract and index documents for the Unit’s
information collection.
• Provide written and verbal answers to enquiries, often to tight
deadlines.
• Scan websites, journals and other sources for relevant information.
• Assist in the updating of web-based databases.
• Provide support for other information- and research-based
activities within the Unit and the Department.

Eurydice at NFER is part of NFER’s International Information Unit, which is
based within the Research Evaluation and Information Department (REID).
