Hello Ilse
Many thanks for taking time to reply to this email.
Does the archive-restore tool come shipped with Bb and if so where is it located. Is there any documentation for it?
Best Wishes
Phil

Subject: Re: Import Export Tool
We have been using the archive-restore (not exactly the same as
export-import though, since it also captures all the activity in a
course, not just the content) for some years now with good results.
We even use it to copy courses, by archiving them first and restoring
them as a course with a different id (we use a yearsuffix, e.g. -0607
for alle courses used in the current academic year). This proved to be
a better method than using the normal copy tool, which had some
problems with for instance discussion boards. Archiving and restoring
seems to respect the source content better.
We are also going to use this method to go from 6.3 to 7.2 this
summer: we will archive the 6.3 courses and import them in a brand new
7.2 installation. This works fine, only for the content system we a
different approach.
If you also need all statistics (activity accumulator), you can get
150 courses per hour, if you don't, double the amount can be
processed. We just did some tests and we started different threads per
application server, which increased the number of courses we could
archive in an hour to 800-900, and we are going to use this method
this summer. You can start several threads, as long as your database
server can keep up. The number of maximum threads and the amount of
courses per hour will no doubt depend on your database and filesystem
hardware.
Kind regards
