I recall hearing mixed results.
- ER at Univ. Alberta, Edmonton introduced the iSTAT device for about 1 year....then discontinued.
- I recall a paper in Clinical Chemistry about 5 years ago looking for outcome based evidence for improvement associated with POCT testing for patients going to angioplasty...(there was no outcome improvement).
- A medical literature search for the terms "POCT" and "turnaround" in Pubmed will bring up about 15 titles of positive outcomes.
