Dear Nicholas and Dorothee,
Yes this is a bug.
I've just replicated it on my machine.
Until this is fixed, a simple workaround is as follows.
First - just look at the results of the parametric contrast itself - * without
masking *.
Then look at the contrast again but this time with masking, as it says in the manual.
This worked for me.
