Breaking Down the Barriers ? a Workshop
Date: Wednesday 16th May 2007
Time: 9.30 p.m. ? 4.00 p.m.
Venue: Performing Arts Library, Denbies, Dorking
This is a free workshop aimed at affiliate members or library workers who
are thinking about becoming affiliate members. In the morning session
Lyndsay Rees-Jones, Senior Advisor on Workforce Development @ CILIP will
give you time to consider:
Where (what) do you want to be?
Do you want to have a job that you enjoy and that pays you sufficiently
for your efforts?
Do you want to progress the service?
Do you want to develop your own skills and have the opportunity to apply
them?
Do you aspire to greatness nationally/internationally?
Do you want to be the best librarian ever?
What are the external and personal boundaries, and (most importantly) how
can they be broken down?
In the afternoon Sally Parker (Assessor for the Framework of
Qualifications) will do a presentation on portfolio building and
assessment for Certification.
This will be followed by a discussion panel for you to ask questions or
discuss issues of interest. Panel members will also include Heather
Saddleton ACLIP and Nel Yiend ACLIP and Tia Afghan ACLIP.
The session is free and coffee and tea will be provided. You may bring
lunch with you, or buy it in the Denbies Cafeteria which provides a wide
range of snacks and meals. We will book a couple of tables in the
restaurant so delegates can network at lunchtime.
Denbies Wine Estate is about half a mile north of Dorking just off the A24
(Dorking-Leatherhead) road. For details see
