On Friday 11 May, RNIB South West are running another day course in access technology. This is a chance to get real hands-on experience and discuss access technology issues that are relevant to you and your clients. Details are:
Title: Access Technology Software - Adapting Personal Computers for Blind And Partially Sighted People
An intermediate level course aimed at visually impaired people or those who work with visually impaired people. It is open to professionals and private individuals of all ages. It will be of particular interest to people working in employment, education, and community settings.
The course aims to provide in-depth, practical experience in the use of screen readers and screen magnifiers. These are two essential tools for providing blind and partially sighted people access to personal computers.
Course content:
· What is access technology software?
· How to adapt personal computers for visually impaired access
· Keyboard control of a PC
· How to use screen reading software - Jaws, Hal and Supernova
· How to use screen magnification software - ZoomText, Lunar and Supernova
· Installation and configuration
· Hands-on experience - using specialist software and computers
· Question and Answer session - bring along specific queries
