The NESTA-funded ISOTOPE (Informing Science Outreach and Public Engagement) Project Team is seeking participants for a focus group study looking at science outreach and public engagement (SCOPE). We are seeking a wide range of views and would value science communication and public engagement professionals' perspectives on these important issues.
We are looking for science communication and public engagement professionals to volunteer to participate in a focus group to be run at the Open University London regional office (Camden) in May or early June. Travel costs will be reimbursed and participants will be compensated for their time. No preparation is required.
We are particularly interested to run groups with staff working full-time as science communication and public engagement professionals, e.g. for museums or science centres, (medical) charities, scientific institutions, in public relations, as lobbyists, etc.
The focus group sessions will take up to 3 hours in total, including the completion of questionnaires, participation in a short activity and an informal discussion about your experiences as SCOPE practitioners.
Responses will be used to inform the co-production of an open source web portal of online resources aimed at (early career) science outreach and public engagement practitioners.
These sessions will be (audio and video) recorded so that the discussion can be analysed as part of the research project. Data will be kept on file for up to 10 years. However, all information about participants’ identities will be kept strictly confidential.
If you are a science communication and/or public engagement practitioner and would be willing to participate in this study, please send your name, title, where you work, and a brief summary of your science outreach and/or public engagement activities (1-2 sentences) to the project researcher Eric Jensen at: [log in to unmask]
