I realized this around the same time as I stopped wanting to write a
PhD thesis about him. There is still of course a PhD thesis - maybe
even several - to be written on Hill; just not the one I thought I was
going to write.

I haven't been able to make it work with Muldoon either; which is to
say that I haven't been able to make Muldoon really work for me,
although there are flashes of recognition (as there are with Prynne).
The thing is, it really isn't about the decoding game. But even once
you're out of the decoding game, there are still plenty of real
differences - *formal* differences - between poets and poetics.
