We would like to draw your attention to 3 full PhD Scholarships on Media
Studies offered by a special funding scheme at Autonomous University of
Barcelona.
The main aim of this program is the recruitment of excellent and
international graduated students with a Media Studies or equivalent degree
who want to obtain a PhD in 4 years in Barcelona in one of the best Spanish
universities. The apply to the scholarship it is suitable that candidates
adapt their research interests to the Audiovisual Communications and
Advertising Department main research lines detailed below.

Advertising and Public Relation Research
Advertising in radio
Studies on Cinema Adaptation: Motivations of European Cinema Adaptations
Documentary and post-cinema studies

The contracts will have a duration of four years. In order to promote the
internationalization of the Ph. D. students, the University will not provide
any contract extension after the Ph. D degree. But it's possible to compete
for a post-doctoral position later on if the candidate has done two years of
post-doctoral research in other university or research center.
The scholarship fee will be around 1300 euros/month.
A part from their research work, the accepted candidates should give low
complexity teaching, as tutorials and workshops. The maximum teaching charge
will be 4,5 credits ECTS the first and fourth year and 9 credits ECTS the
second and the third year of the scholarship. This is why a good knowledge
of Spanish is important, although no application will be rule out if a good
English level is accredited.

The candidate has to select the Audiovisual and Advertising Communication
Department link on that page. After fill in the personal data, it's
important to write a preliminary and short research project, and to select
one or more departmental research lines within the research project could be
included.
The Autonomous University of Barcelona will contact the candidates in May in
order to inform them about the final scholarships conditions, deadlines,
requirements and the potential PhD supervisors for their research project.
The successful candidates will have to commence on or about September the
1st 2007.
The final applications will be assess by the university central services
according to academic merits and the research project level adjustment to
departmental research lines.
