We have never been able to receive documents in this way. Done the
ping-pong and got the teeshirt but no joy. The IT department were able
to download on a machine which 'cut out NHSnet' not sure whether N2 or
N3 - still have to get documents by post as nothing was resolved.

Hello everybody,

We have been having difficulties in printing off Secure Electronic
Documents (SED) from the British Library. The problem started on 13th
March: up to then, we had been printing off these documents for about
the last three years.

Our network and IT are managed by two different departments. Our
network people are saying that the problem is down to the
newly-installed software (Web Sense) which has replaced Surf Control,
and is used to detect any visits to "inappropriate" sites. Our IT
people are saying that it is because we have moved from N2 to N3, and
that SEDs work on N3. In the meantime, I feel like the ball in a
ping-pong match between the two departments! As you can imagine, the
impact on our budget is quite substantial - given that it is much
cheaper to receive a document via SED than a photocopy in the post.
Not
to mention the greater turnaround.

I was wondering if anyone had experienced similar problems, either
with
SEDs and N3 or SEDs and Web Sense. And if so, would their technical
people be prepared to talk to our technical people? Hopefully, if I
produce some definitive evidence we may be able to get a satisfactory
conclusion.

Unless they are enjoying the ping-pong match ....

I look forward to receiving any help or support on this.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards.
