DESIGNING A LIBRARY DATABASE USING MICROSOFT ACCESS

This two-day intensive, hands-on course is designed for library and information staff working with small, specialist collections who need to set up a functional library database at minimum cost.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
· learned about database concepts
· used the tools & techniques within Microsoft Access
· applied cataloguing principles to the creation of data
fields
· created a number of related database tables
· created a catalogue of records
· created a user interface
This is a step-by-step database design course and each participant will take away their own database.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Those who have some basic understanding of databases in general, and/or some knowledge of Microsoft Access in particular, and who need to create a functional database.
COURSE LEADER: KATHY RODDY
Kathy is a qualified librarian and information manager with considerable experience of working in public, academic and specialist libraries. She also has senior management experience gained in the voluntary sector and for the past six years been a freelance trainer and consultant specialising in the LIS field.
