Thanks to everyone who contributed and have written to me on this
subject. My employers are acutally very supportive with training, but as
I have explained to those who wrote to me individually, I only have a
very minor role and a temporary post, and the training here is excellent
in other ways. I have been given time off to attend shows and also been
sent on quite a few local courses run by librarians. I don't think it
would be appropriate at my career stage for my employers to send me to a
conference, and although there are sponsored places we on the CILIP in
London committee decided that it would be inappropriate for our
particular branch to spend our now limited funds this way. However, I
may go next year now I have got my head around the topic in advance. I
don't want to write about this any more as I have work to do.
Best wishes
Anna Martin.
