International Conference “Directions in Preventive Conservation”



First announcement – Call for paper and poster abstracts 



 



Dates: September 26-29th, 2007



Place: Sibiu, Romania 



Organizers: Romanian Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs 



       CePCoR (Training Centre for Conservators and Restorers) within ASTRA Museum



Official languages: English, Romanian (with simultaneous translation)



Deadline for abstract submission: July 2, 2007



 



Description:



The importance of caring for collections, as priority versus conservation of individual objects, is obvious. This international conference aims to gather the specialists involved in preventive conservation. Special emphasis will be given to contributions presenting problems that Eastern and South Eastern Europe countries are facing in this field, the solutions they envisaged and the results they reached in preventive conservation. The event will offer the opportunity for a round table discussion on this issue. Professionals from all over the world are kindly invited to share their experience with the specialist of the region.



 



Call is launched for papers and posters on topics related to the title: agents of deterioration and treatment possibilities, collections on storage, display and in transit, risk assessment and mitigation, disaster planning, international activities in PC (conferences, training possibilities), European research projects in PC etc. 



 



Abstracts of 300-500 words in English should be submitted to Marta Guttmann ([log in to unmask]) before July 2, 2007. Submitting of full papers afterwards is optional.



 



Venues, draft program, scientific committee, final conference program and fees, related publication etc will be available soon on the conference website www.cepcor.ro/dpc2007sibiu   



 



Estimative conference fee:



 75 Euro before August 15, 2007



100 Euro after August 15, 2007
