Call for papers for Assemblage 11
Assemblage is the University of Sheffield's graduate journal of
archaeology. Assemblage is a peer reviewed journal intended to provide
graduate and other writers with experience in the process of publishing
academic work, and to present articles from established researchers on a
broad range of archaeological topics.
In the past, assemblage has published articles on a wide range of issues
relevant to archaeology and more general treatments of the material past.
Since its inception in 1996, we have covered a wide range of topics
including: Early Roman settlements in central Italy, the concerns of
heritage and urban planning in contemporary Britain; Palaeolithic stone
tools of the Indian subcontinent; the role of GIS in archaeological
modelling; Tavernas in ancient Greece; the role of philosophy in
archaeological theory; the history of clay pipes and folkloric treatments
of landscape features.
Whilst assemblage encourages submissions from a wide range of interest
groups, we are particularly interested in receiving original and engaging
material from new researchers.
Assemblage is currently interested in receiving full-length articles,
recent, archaeological reports, opinion pieces or similar scholarly works
related to archaeology and treatments of the material past.
We would like to see articles of between 4-8000 words and opinion pieces
of max. 2000 words, which can include: methodological and scientific
studies explorations of theoretical issues landscape, site and artefact
