Upon building a robot poet: 2030
What you need mate, is to cannibalise
An old word processor, and to look out
For solid core wires, maybe a digital camera,
Of course you require a couple of speakers,
And a motor, wheels or legs, it's your call,
Otherwise, you can hunt for a readymade,
You know, a toy John Keats or Milton,
Not one of those pull the string dolls,
Which only says of man's first disobedience,
I mean the real thing, all the gear, quantum
Archives, quadratic memory, spitting blood
Mechanisms, and dysfunctional light sensors,
So we can all get to anthropomorphise,
Relate to the thing, listen to the poem,
And think, oh yes, this is more than a robot,
This is a poet, and we are the audience.
