LIFT LIVING ARCHIVE
PROJECT ARCHIVIST
£22,000 pro rata
Fixed contract, part-time
3 days a week for 9 months
The Lift Living Archive is a unique theatre resource charting the 25-year history of a
biennial festival of international performances and events in London. The archive
will offer access to a wide audience as both a physical archive and as an online
digital resource.
Lift recently completed Stage 1 of the Lift Living Archive project, with funding from
the Heritage Lottery Fund and Foundation for the Sports and Arts. Stage 1 included
assessing the condition of Lift’s archive and completing a full survey of the materials
that include photographs, posters and programmes, props and production
documents.
Now, with further funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund we are looking to continue
this archiving work, which will lead to a public launch of the archive in 2008.
Lift is looking to recruit a Project Archivist to work specifically on cataloguing the
document archive. This archive is made up of 315 boxes with content that includes
contracts, artists’ proposals, production notes, correspondence and marketing
materials. The documents have already been surveyed and the applicant will be
responsible for the final appraisal, arrangement and description of the material to
produce an ISAD(G)-compliant catalogue.
The archives consultant who carried out the original survey will be available during
the project.
Ideally, applicants should have a recognized qualification in Archives Administration
but applications from pre-course candidates with relevant experience of working in
an archive will certainly be considered.
Applicants can download a job description and information pack from

Closing date: 8th May 2007
