The Library & Archives at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew form one of the
largest collections in the world relating to botany. The Archives contain
the official records of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and the papers of
many botanists, gardeners and other individuals. They form a valuable
resource on the history of the discovery, study, transfer and use of the
world's plants and fungi. There are over 7 million sheets of paper in 4,600
archival collections. Join the Archivist for a fascinating talk on the
history of the gardens. Enjoy a walk through the Herbarium to the library
where you will get to view a display of archival documents; you will then
be taken on a tour of the archival repository itself. Afterwards you will
be free to wonder around the beautiful Kew Gardens WITHOUT CHARGE (usual
entry price £12.25/£10.25 cons).
Please note the Library and Archive and is located in the Herbarium, which
is on Kew Green. Kew Green is situated on the south bank of the River
Thames near Richmond, Surrey. Nearest station Kew Gardens.
