Research Associate, Biostatician - Cancer Care Ontario, Toronto
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Contract Full-Time (one year with the possibility of renewal)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Cancer Care Ontario is the principal advisor to the Ontario Ministry of
Health and Long-Term Care on all cancer-related services. The Ontario
Cancer Consortium (OCC) is an emerging research platform focused on a large,
long-term cohort and intervention study that aims to increase our
understanding of environmental, genetic and behavioural risk factors for
cancer and other chronic diseases. The consortium is facilitated by a
Secretariat within the Division of Preventive Oncology at Cancer Care
Ontario. Working under the supervision of the Senior Research Associate,
the Research Associate will support the activities of the OCC and other
research projects in the Division of Preventive Oncology (DPO). Initial
duties will include reviewing literature and making recommendations related
to sample size and sampling strategy development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have:
· Completed a Masters degree program in statistics, biostatistics or related
discipline.
· One to two years experience in applied health research.
· Demonstrated strong quantitative research skills including knowledge and
experience using statistical software such as SAS or R.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· The ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
with minimum supervision.
· Experience in observational and experimental study design.
· Strong computer programming skills.
· The ability to maintain confidentiality of extensive personal health
information.
SALARY RANGE: C$ 53,898 - C$70,044 (commensurate with qualifications and
experience)
