Archaeology and folklore are traditionally seen as taking contrasting
approaches to the interpretation of ancient and historic sites. This study
day aims to open up new possibilities for dialogue between these
disciplines. Drawing upon the distinctive ways in which landscapes,
monuments and objects relate meaning, the exploration of the role that
folklore plays in the construction of identity, both in the past and in
the present, will be discussed.
