I agree with Judi. I worked last year on a knowledge collection for NCSL
(the story was published in CILIP Update in December 2006 -
http://www.cilip.org.uk/publications/updatemagazine/archive/archive2006/dec
ember/Bruce.htm).
The original collection was very well organised in a BCS and had been
managed very well from a records perspective for 4 years. However, the
collection needed to be completely reclassified for use and publication as
a knowledge base where document type and subject were the primary
classification axes as opposed to the careful mix of FAT and
organisational approach adopted in the BCS originally. The BCS was very
useful in creating the structure for the residual rump of records in the
collection (Called Programme Records) which are not published on the
internet and remain the college archive until there next disposal review
date.
