Bradford Council has undertaken to develop and implement a strategy for GIS (Geographical Information Systems) which will provide both the robust technical infrastructure and the tools to more fully realise the benefits which GIS can bring to the organisation's use of information and intelligence. Part of this implementation will involve the setting up of a Corporate GIS Team to manage the Council's spatial data, to develop and deliver solutions and provide technical advice and guidance to users. The first phase of the implementation, the Design phase, requires additional resources on the Council side to work alongside our strategic partners in ICT (IBM / Serco) and therefore two new permanent posts are being created. The location of these posts within the Department of the Deputy Chief Executive reflects the strategic importance of this initiative to Bradford.

Essential experience includes: 3 years post graduate experience in a Web-GIS team within a large service organisation - Including experience of at least one (and preferably more than one):

- Web based GIS development
- Use of desktop GIS tools and applications
- Business requirements analysis in the GIS context
- Providing GIS support to end users

Experience of managing a team and at least 3 years 'hands-on' desktop GIS Experience is also essential.
You will be able to demonstrate a good formal education (e.g. to degree level or equivalent) or have an academic qualification relevant to GIS or web development.
